| Vitamin A seems to be antagonistic to vitamin D. Is anybody using it in addition to Benicar? It would seem to have immune benefits.

I'm not clear why, but I am recalling Dr. Marshall posting that Vitamin A affects the immune system and is not something we would be taking on the MP.

| That's really not much of an answer. What is it based on? What would be an adverse reaction to taking vitamin A? Might one be that we wouldn't be able to control IPs very well?

Cathy beat me to giving you this thread.

Well Vitaman, based on your forum name, I would guess you are here to defend your belief in supplementation. You have not filled in your signature line with your diagnosis and you appear to be somewhat antagonistic in your answer to Joyful. If you are here for help in deciding to do the MP or not, we will help you.
But if you are just here to argue, you will find yourself banned very quickly We are here solely to help people with there questions on the MP when they are considering following the protocol. This is not a free for all forum for wild west shoot-um ups. We are all volunteers and patients out selves, and don't have the time or energy to waste our efforts on arguing. There are other unrelated forums where you can go and talk a blue streak about your views on supplementation, but not here.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of supplements, and it is not possible to know the exact mode of action of each and every one, or to take the time to determine which cause problems with the MP, so there is a blanket prohibition on supplementing beyond the daily recommended intake. A few substances discussed on the MPKB.org site are acceptable because the mode of action is known or the substance has been shown to be acceptable by experience of those on the MP.
But you may want to recognize that most herbs have had centuries in which to have been selected out for their capability of making people feel better. The MP, when it stimulates the immune system, will make you feel worse, not better. Therefore, the mode of action of many if not most supplements is to suppress the immune system, which reduces inflammation giving a number of short term benefits, and makes you feel better. That is certainly the 'beneficial' mode of action of vitamin D. It's unfortunate that such suppression allows the bacteria to grow faster.

Vitaman,
Here are a few things to consider about Vitamin A and the MP. Yes, your suggestion that it could contribute to intolerable IPs is a possibility. Any substance that is taken in large quantity (that is, any more than would be naturally consumed in whole foods) can overwhelm an already taxed body.
Also, there are several here with TH1 illness that have reported having a sensitivity to foods high in vitamin A--particularly those who have come to the MP with very high levels of 1,25-D. High 1,25-D levels seriously upset the homeostasis of multiple hormonal pathways and processes. Adding "extra" supplements are more likely to further overwhelm these body processes during the treatment than to provide any perceived benefit.
We have really been conditioned by both the advertising and mainstream media/research communities to believe that "more is better". We also mistakenly think of the body in all too simplistic terms--"more is better", "something in, something out", very direct line thinking. The body is more complex than that and more closely resembles a homeostasis model where substantially increasing ones intake of anything will throw multiple processes off balance. The goal here is to restore balance--as Prof. Marshall has often said, "moderation in all things".
On another note, you mentioned that Vitamin A is antagonistic to Vitamin D and you were wondering if anyone is taking Vitamin A along with Benicar to help the immune system. It may be helpful to read the following links to clarify the role of both Benicar and the Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) in restoring the immune system (neither of these involve using Vitamin A):
