Hi Julia,:)

Mum's on much higher dose of samento and her D's have dropped. We are aware it does have an effect on the immune system and know that the MP is the only way forward and so are definitely stopping it before going on MP. I'm only on it at the moment because its the only thing keeping me from getting acute tonsillitis. We are awaiting the decision of a dr at the moment, who may put us on the MP.:D All we want is the MP and only the MP, just struggling to find a prescribing Dr.

My D's were 42nmol/l or 16.8mg/ml. Now they're 47nmol/l or 18.8ng/ml.:(

I had a cold (chest infection and awful cough) when my bloods were taken. Could that have affected it??:?

Much thanx Julia!:)

Probably not.  The D is getting in through your diet somewhere.  Make a very careful check of all ingredients and especially look for anything that just says "Oils" or uses thickeners such as carageenan.  All prepared foods are suspect until proven otherwise. It sounds like you will really have to go through with a fine toothed comb to find the culprit, but it's got to be done.

(I have revised my diet completely and have found a few culprits - which have now been eliminated!)

Thankyou!!

That's great news, O happy treefrog :D

The MP study is now closed to new members.  We would dearly love to be able to include everyone, but we have a very small band of volunteer nurses already working flat out, and the demand has been overwhelming.

We have a new forum Non-medical support for those on MP for those who are not in the study.  There is no medical support available here, but you're welcome to ask non-medical questions that can be answered by more experienced members.  There is no need to post regular progress reports, though you're welcome to let us know how you're getting on.

All doctors are welcome to join the private Professionals' Forum, where all the help and support they need is available, as well as access to the whole protocol from the start.  You must refer to your doctor for medical issues, and search the MP 'library' on the study site to find information.

Phases 2 & 3 of the MP are not available in the public part of the site, so you must ask your doctor to print you out a copy of the Phase 2/3 guidelines when the time comes.

All the information you need is in the MP 'library' on the main site.  Here on this site the advocates are happy to act as 'librarians' to help you find what you need to know to make your MP journey a success.

You might also enjoy reading the members' informal discussion board MP-Lifestyles.org.

Please make sure you know the following essential information thoroughly:

Phase1 guidelines - print one out for you and one for your doctor, and refer to it often.

FAQs Easy Finder & the ABC of MP - use with the search facilities to find information.  How to do a site search

Essential Information About the MP - take this a little at a time!

Read, read, read... and let us know if you can't find what you need... :)

Thanx Julia! I've still continued to read!:)

I started the benicar (40mg every 6 hours) 2 days ago (sunday at 3pm). I haven't really experienced any rise or fall in symptoms, except for a slight increase in fatigue (slept all day yesterday). I'm not particularly photosensitive yet either.

I had an absyss on my neck lanced yesterday morning, seems to be healing.

On my benicar packet it has NTR written on it - does that mean non timed released??

Thankyou! Feels so wierd to say that im now on the MP! :D

Take care,

Treefrog:)

Hey treefrog...

have not talked to you in a while....glad you are on the MP.

I did not start showing signs of light sensitivity until the second week...then it became very intense.

Now it is hardly noticable unless I am herxing....I just now strted herxing again on phase two......big headaches...never had headaches before this so I know it is herxing.

Hope to see your updates...

Take care,

Sean

Hello everyone!

It's been 2 weeks on benicar, im on 6 hours consistently.

Earlier in the second week, i had 3 days of feeling really down and depressed. My mood has fluctuated so much! I have also had headaches, dizziness, slight abdominal pains, tiredness, sporadic deafness and tinnitus which lasts momentairily. Still no photosensitivity yet.

However, positive things iv seen - im not as bloated and for a few days i've actually had a good bowel movement once a day (that's a miracle for me!!)

Yesterday i actually felt less tired. my mood was fairly even and i was less dizzy - it's the best iv felt in a few months!! Still have a long way to go though!

I'm starting mino 25mg 48hourly at 2pm today, so bring on the herxing!!:?

Great to hear from you sean!:) Good to know you are herxing but hope it's not too overbearing with the headaches!

Will post again soon,

Treefrog

thanks treefrog,

compared to how much improvement I have seen...these headaches are a piece of cake.

Life has changed dramatically...I am sure it will just get better.....though I may still see some more tough herxing in the future.

Very glad you ae on your way

Sean

Hello everyone,

Just to update again; i've finished 6 doses of mino at 25mg every 48 hours. I've been gently herxing, and have now reached a plateux so tomorrow will begin 50mg mino every 48hours.

Usual herxes iv had are headaches, my right eye stinging, sinuses and my throat feels like sandpaper - it's nice to feel something happening although the fatigue is staggering!!

Will post soon,

Treefrog

Hello everyone!:)

I've been on mino 50mg for 9 days now (5 doses).

For the past three days i've felt BETTER!!:D The fatigue has partially lifted, i still get dizzy but only temporarily on standing. My brains working slightly better - was actually able to do studying earlier today!! I can't believe my mood either! Normally i'm anxious, feeling low, paranoid or just closed off... however i feel more upbeat - and actually feel christmassy!! I really don't want to jinx anything though, because im aware this good spell might not last as the antibiotics go up.:?

BUT... my plan is to stay on 50mg mino for another dose and then if im still stable at that, then i will move up to 75mg mino.

Write again soon - best wishes to you all!:)

A happy Treefrog (for now...):D

Hello again!:)

Just to update, i am now on 75mg mino 48hourly and have taken 6 doses. After my third and fourth doses i had some slightly heavier herxing mainly flu-like symptoms, headaches and some abdo pains.

But Over the last 2 days i've spent the evening at a friends house and the next morning i woke up not totally exhausted and then that night went to the cinema!! I did look a bit wierd in the cinema foyer with all the bright light wearing my noirs, but my friends assured me i looked like a diva!! hmmm...:P:cool:

I cant believe how far i walked - from the car to the cinema... and back! AND i managed to actually laugh, talk and not fall asleep in front of my friends for a good few hours, and when i got home i was only a little tired with a small headache!

I plan to increase to 100mg mino on the 23rd. Hope i dont herx too much over christmas :?

Will write again soon, probably after christmas!

Take care and i hope everyone has a very MERRY CHRISTMAS!!:dude:

Thankyou for the Christmas wishes - hope everyone's having a good holiday!:dude:

I am on 100mg mino (48 hourly) and benicar 6hourly consistently. I have had 3 doses so far and so will be starting phase 2 within a week or so. All symptoms are very tolerable.:)

As im going to be starting phase 2 very soon - would it be possible to have access to the phase 2 forums on the main site, so i can read up, so as to progress safely and efficiently with the protocol??:)

Thankyou very much,

Treefrog:)

Hi All!:)

Another update, at the moment im still on 100mg mino. Iv taken 9 doses so far and im ready to move to phase 2 but the zith has not arrived yet so i am still continuing with the 100mg mino until that arrives.:?

At the moment i feel great.:) On 100mg mino iv had really bad headaches and some flulike symptoms, a bit of abdo pain and my candida has got a lot worse all of a sudden.

I've been on benicar 6hourly consistently throughtout phase one but the other day i planned to go to my boyfriends familys house (after dark ofc!) but i was having really bad headaches and was very quiet and feeling really down, tired and dizzy before we got round to going out. I thought that i was just down and that id cheer up if i rested and didnt go out that night but my mum and boyfriend convinced me to try and take a 20mg sublingual benicar. I took it and within 5 minutes my head was totally clear and there was no pain. my mood was instantly lifted. As for my fatigue i was literally bouncing off the walls i felt so energetic!!:D I was smiling, talking lots and just felt so alive! My mum and boyfriend must've thought i was nuts, from being moody and in pain to feeling energetic and happy in the space of a couple of minutes!! It was amazing!! It's hard to tell sometimes when you feel depressed wether it is herxing or just a low mood. Just being in a better mood makes everything seem so much brighter!

I do have a bit of a problem though. I've been gaining weight recently. At the start of the MP i was about 9st1 but now im 9st6 and going up. I'm really worried about it and i don't think im eating a huge amount. I've always had to be very careful with my weight and what i eat. My mum is the complete opposite and can't stop losing weight. So is this a herx? or am i eating too much and should cut down?:?:(

On a typical day i eat porridge with water for breakfast, then a slice of melon and nuts for lunch, chicken(or egg whites) and veg(mostly onion and courgettes) for dinner and then strawberries and a pear or an apple. I do eat quite a lot of nuts but i eat way less than i used to and im gaining more weight now. I would really appreciate if someone could help or identify with this problem - making me feel a little panicky.

Thankyou - hope everyone is progressing well!

Take care everyone!!

Treefrog:)

Hi Treefrog,

Thanks for sharing your experience with sublingual benicar.  I am sure others will read and benefit from your experience.

There is a lot of discussion on bacteria and weight gain/loss in Dr Marshall's perspective thread at the MP study site.  Check it out at the link below.

Hi Everyone,:)

Thankyou Gene for commenting on my post and i have read the links. Hoping that things will normalise out eventually!

I've started phase 2! I started zith 1/8 on 12th Jan 09 at 2pm. Also took my 25mg mino at 2pm. I have been on benicar 40mg 6 hourly consistently except for 2 sublingual 20mg.

I felt good after taking it until 9pm when i was sitting at my computer and the room started spinning. I felt nauseous and so dizzy, i had to immediately lie down. It came on EXTREMELY quickly:shock: and i immediately took a sublingual 20mg benicar. After about 15mins i felt much better, just very tired and feverish.

Next day 13th, felt feverish, dizzy and exhausted. Slept most of the day. At 3pm i woke up with excruciating ovarian pain. The only other time i've experienced such a pain was when i had a taughted cyst 2yrs ago. It did cross my mind that i may have another cyst? as my menstrual cycle has been upsidedown. Again i took a 20mg sublingual benicar and within 5 mins the pain completely subsided and it took longer to get over the shock! It was amazing how the benicar worked so quickly on something that was so painful. I was so scared it wouldn't subside.

Today 14th, iv felt tired and dizzy and a little fluey but feel better than the past 2 days. Took a 25mg mino at 2pm.

Ok, this sounds strange:?... but im having a lot of cravings for salted peanuts. I'm already having problems with gaining weight and therefore would prefer not to go too overboard but thats all i want to eat. On the packet the ingredients list is; peanuts 95%, vegetable oil, salt. Which is obviously ok but could there be any hidden D's? (really cracking out the paranoia now). I've had my bloods taken yesterday but am still waiting for the 25D level to come back. I'm just worried about why im craving them so much... it seems fishy... pardon the bad joke...:P

The rest of my bloods show that im a little anaemic, borderline hypothyroid and my kidney and liver fuctions are a little wonky.

Sending everyone my best wishes, take care,

Treefrog:)

Funny that. Peanuts may have something that will raise your 25D levels, so perhaps you can eat something else that is salty to try to redirect your cravings?

Many of us show up a touch anemic. See this thead: My doctor says I am anemic. What should I do?

As for your other tests, you can read up on what test results mean in the ABC of MP thread.

So, what does "a little wonky" mean? ;)
