Welcome David,
I'm sorry you just began and it's a baptism of fire for you.  I didn't get the severe light sensitivity but 2 weeks on benicar alone and I felt like when I was pregnant with nausea and fatigue, also headaches, and dizziness in addition to all the regular joint pain.

Learning how to use the Phase 1 guidelines has been key for me.  Learning how to use pallative measures for severe IP has helped.  I'm just beginning to finally learn my IP pathology enough to take action quickly.  Do you have someone to write a log of your progress that includes the medication and dosages you've tried, other things tried, activity levels?  It has helped me greatly to keep track in a notebook because it's hard when you're sick and in the dark with a panic attack to remember what you did when and what helped.  Also, printing out the Phase 1 and managing severe IP has helped to keep next to the bed to remind myself what solutions I have in terms of adjusting the meds.

I too feel like I live in a cave at times and we had a gorgeous summer in the Adirondacks in NY and I didn't go out at all really.  It's hard on family and friends too sometimes which affects us too.  Music and reading has saved me many days.

Are you currently only on benicar?  What do you take for your stomach besides probiotics?  Slippery Elm bark tea coats my stomach and helps me.  Sometimes mild ginger tea too.  I'm not sure if you're a tea drinker.

I hope you get some quick relief soon.  It can be hard for sure but I hope you find support and help here.  Dana

David, are you taking the brand Benicar or the generic Olmecip (or one of the other more unusual ones I see people in Canada can sometimes get)?  The brand Benicar has been reported to be enteric coated, where the generic isn't.  Cynthia

I am taking brand name Benicar.  I have a feeling no one knows the answer to my question about sublingual benicar and the VDR effect, as I can;t find it anywhere on the internet and no responses here either.  If anyoe does know the actual answer, please post it....thanks :-).

Your stomach and digestion problems and your trouble with the Benicar suggests to me that you might benefit from reading this article:  http://synergyhn.com/cga .

I had a stage at which I had issues with Benicar and I made some diet changes that helped it.  If you want to email me about it as well you can.

David, I'm sorry you're still having trouble with the oral benicar.  I think Trevor answered your question in that the results of oral benicar have not been studied because it's been tested using oral dosing verses sublingual and there are different absorption issues that may need further study.  I don't think that helps your situation.  I hope someone else can suggest modifications.  How are your photo sensitivity issues?  Are they improving at all?

Dana,

I had my blood drawn and viewed with microscopy x 1000 and in the past I never showed any immune cells working.  This time I had large amounts of immune cell activity. I think this shows that my immune system is turned on, even with sublingual benicar. My light sensitivity has also gotten a little better, but I am still unable to watch tv or be on the computer for more than a few minutes.  I am going to continue the benicar sublingual and hopefully someday I will be able to tolerate it in my stomach again. As we all know, the body is infinitely complex and we each have our own healing path.  Since it appears my immune system is finally turned on, I am hopeful that eventually I will kill enough bad guys to feel better :-).

Hooray for our bodies!  I'm glad the benicar is working for you as well even sublingually.  We'll all get there one way or another.  I'm happy for you.

You haven't written in awhile, I just wondered how you're doing?  Hope your holiday was relaxing.  If you're too sick to post, maybe someone can for you so you have some extra support.  It's so important especially in the beginning.  Dana

I have not posted in about 4 months.  I had a very difficult time on the MP for the first 3 months and spent most of it in almost complete darkness in my bedroon about 23 hours a day. I had to move to sublingual benicar and go off mino due to extreme stomach and gut issues.  I am very very happy to say that I didn't give up and later restarted the mino at 25mg and then moved slowly through 50mg, 75 mg and I am now on 100mg every 48 and looking forward to beginning phase 2 shortly.  I need to obatin documentation for phase 2 and would like to be able to access the marshallprotocol.com website for support as well.  I am back now and plan on posting fequently.

I am doing a lot better and thank those of you who have asked.  My light sensitivity finally began to lift a little a few months ago and I just recenty started to go out of the house again.  My first time in 6 months! I actualy went into work for a few hours last week and I am slowly gaining strength and feeling better.  I have had some challenges with each higher dose of mino but they have been tolerable and I have been able to manage the IP on the bad days with rest and making sure I eat enough and staying hydrated.  I am very excited about starting phase 2 and looking forward to a continued recovery :-).

This post was really encouraging to me b/c I'm on week one and having major light issues. Anxiety and even heart racing and things. I was reading your saga and was happy to read the last post that you were ok eventually :). thanks!

David, I'm curious.  Are you still using your olmesartan sublingually, or are you now able to take it by mouth now.  Cynthia
