I had my Vit D tested at Quest and the results were quite low. I have a Lyme diagnosis and avoided Vit D supplementation/sun exposure for the last couple of years. Sun exposure longer than 15-20 minutes makes me very unwell (very dizzy and feeling weird for a couple of days afterward) although I do not suffer from light sensitivity, whilst oral supplementation used to cause joint (elbows, wrists, fingers) swelling. Nobody has been able to explain why this is so.
The results :
1,25 Dihydroxy: 26pg/mL
25 OH D: 12nmol/L
I had been on Minocycline 100mg bid and Rifampin 300mg bid for about 3 months, not sure if this could have influenced the results.
The doctor wants me to have injections but I am afraid this could cause more harm than good.
Any suggestion or advice welcome.
Best regards

| Based on the little info you have provided it sounds to me like Th1 inflamation. I do not know anything about Rifampin. What supplements and what injections are you talking about? What was the 25-D? Did you test 1,25-D? Is your doctor on board with doing the MP or at least a therapeutic probe?

supplements and injection refer to Vit D
the 25-D was 12nmol?L and 1,25-D 26pg/ml

| Sounds more convincing that it is Th1. Low 25-D is a strong marker for Th1 inflamation. If it is still low in spite of supplementation that makes the case even stronger. Sounds like you need to start the MP and cut out all the Vitamin D supplementation. At least do a therapeutic probe.

| I wonder if the 1,25-D sample was properly handled. If not it could be a false low.
