Had no calcium or Vit D for 4 days before each draw, only meds taken were lisinopril and atenolol, have been in sun 30 minutes each day bicycling as I have done every day for years, and 1,25 LabCorp results were 89 pg/mL and then 93 second test, with range "reference interval" of 15.9 to 55.6.
Read here earlier that LabCorp 1,25 testing is OK only if results are high, and wondering what opinions are as to where I stand with near 2 Sigma numbers: test results OK, but I'm drowning in calcitriol ? Do I need to pay a 3rd time - this time to Quest - to get a better test?
Any ideas on whether the 1/2 hour sunlight on arms and legs accounts for more than a small portion of my elevated 1,25 levels ? Do weekend, all-day, beach sunbathers come home Sunday night with 1,25 levels over 100?
Also have a familial osteopenia issue developing with 2 of my children ages 33 and 36 flunking Dexa bone scans taken because of my 37 year history, from age 30, of osteopenia and broken bones and recently hip. Both children were prescribed boniva but were advised by others not to take it until hyperparathyroidism was ruled out, and they are waiting for PTH, ionized calcium and 1,25 results now. There is also a familial type II, high serum 1,25, vit D resistance that needs consideration if everyone passes the hyperparathyroid tests.
Would appreciate all opinions, professional or experiential, that can help me keep my kids off the chronic, long-term suffering track down which 3 decades of MDs have sent me. Thanks.
