I was just wondering how long it takes to see improvement after starting the MP with Insomnia. I have been on the MP since May, currently taking Xanax to help with sleep and wondered when I can start to wean from the Xanax. I understand everyone is different but would love to hear from anyone that has had success with their insomnia. I have had it for years and hope that one day I will be able to sleep without drugs!
Thanks

Gracie, these may interest you...
What degree of healing is possible using the Marshall Protocol?
How long does the Marshall Protocol take?
Why does the MP take so long?
Hypervitaminosis-D Symptoms
My own personal experience ... I am sleeping so much better these past several weeks/months. For the past few years, I've had bad sleeping episodes which may have lasted weeks or months, waking up most nights with many sleepless ones. I've been on the MP for 2 years and can say it feels great going to work fully rested!
I have insomnia and fatigue. What should I do?

| Thanks Rico. I think that I have read everything that there is to read about sleep on the support board, but just need to hear from someone to reasure me that it will get better. I am concerned about being on Xanax because of the withdrawl process. I took Ativan for many years and the withdrawl was not fun. I have now been on Xanax since May and will eventually have to wean from it. Do you remember when you started to sleep better? How far into the program were you? Thanks in adavance.

Gracie,
I hadn't been able to fall asleep naturally for over 40 years... I started taking tranquilizers at age 19 to enable me to sleep.
Within the past 5 years (prior to MP) i was needing more and more medication to enable me to sleep.....from the moment I would wake up in the am I would be thinking about the next night's sleep....in all this time, especially the last 10 years (prior to MP) I never woke up feeling refreshed. I was taking so many sleep meds that it was probably dangerous. I was in a constant state of exhaution.
Now...2.5 years into the MP and I am falling asleep quite naturally and waking up refreshed. It was a gradual change so it's impossible to pinpoint the exact time this happened...but I believe there was a steady and gradual improvement after I had been on MP for one year.
It is wonderful to be able to fall asleep, wake up for my benicar, and roll over and fall asleep again.
If it has happened for me.....it will work for anyone, I am convinced.

Hi Gracie,
Before the MP, I was on ever increasing nightly doses of Ambien and the drug still wasn't working well. I have been on the MP for 4 years now and my insomnia has improved as my D levels have decreased.
My 25D started at 99.1 (extremely high) and it has yet to come down to within the therapeutic range, yet as the levels have declined, I have been able to wean off the Ambien with relatively little difficulty. There was some withdrawal, but I had been on high doses for over ten years. Also, when I sacrifice and go out in extra light for the rare special occasion, insomnia is part of the fallout. (Hypervitaminosis D)
I still have less than ideal sleep but it is much better than pre-MP and, as I mentioned, I haven't really got into the therapeutic, major progress portion of the treatment yet, due to the high D still suppressing my immune system. Yet even when I am dealing with insomnia, the snatches I may get are more refreshing than any sleep I got with drugs.
So yes, there is certainly hope for you to recover healthly sleep on the MP!
Renee

Hi Diana,
Thank you for your support. I too have been taking sleep aids for over 20 years and always thinking about the next nights sleep. I will be patient and just wait for healing to occur. I take Xanax to get thru the night and will have to wean when the time comes....just not sure when that will be!
Blessings

Four years on the MP! Wow. Thank you for your support. It really helps to know that there is hope. After so many years (seems like most of my adult life) of bad sleep, you just wonder if it will ever get better. Having to go thru the weaning process again does not thrill me, as I had a tough time weaning from Ativan. I was on it for @16 years and it stopped working so here I am again, taking Xanax to get thru the night. I will be patient.
Thanks!
