I have been strictly avoiding Vit D for 4 months. I was about to start phase 2, and my doctor retested my D-25. It has actually risen from 32 to 35. I searched my frig and found an egg substitute I have used on occasion has 10 mgs of vit d. Besides that, I can only think of three other things that may possibly have affected it.

1. Too much sun- I have been swimming at noon 3-4 times a week for about 15 min, and sitting under a tarp for 30 min.

2. I have taken magnesium to try and help with a headache. That was right around the time of the test.

3 I switched to generic Benicar middle of June which has not been working as well for me.

Any Suggestion? I am stumped!

Hi Jenblue,

Welcome to the sister site of http://www.marshallprotocol.com.  This is your personal thread please continue to ask all future questions here :).

"I have been strictly avoiding Vit D for 4 months."

Well now you realise that you haven't.  10mgs of vitamin D is a lot of vitamin D - I assume that is in the whole packet?  Regardless, as you would have realised - stop using that egg substitute.  I find many recipes can be made just using egg whites if that helps :).

Are you in light when swimming?  I would suggest stopping the swimming (or finding an indoor pool.. that's open at night) until your next 25,D test .  A tarp wouldn't offer as much sun protection as you may think.

"Sun exposure will not stop bacterial killing while on the MP, but progress may be slowed if either 25-D or 1,25-D are elevated by sun exposure enough to inhibit immune function."

Suggest revising;

The Effect of Sunlight/daylight and Bright Lights

What are the latest recommendations regarding sun/light exposure?

As per magnesium -
"With regard to vitamin D, it has been found that even when supplements do not include vitamin D on the label, they still may contain it."

Why do I have to stop my alternative treatment and avoid most supplements?

And as for Benicar, see The right kind of Benicar.

Before proceeding to phase 2, please revise;
The Importance of Reducing 25-D .

Just be aware that one day the 25-D will drop, and as it drops your symptoms may increase as the 25-D has been acting as an immunosuppressant, and you may need to reduce the abx dose.  Discuss the next steps with your Doctor and proceed with caution.

Take care,
Natalie

Hi Jen,

Natalie has given you good advice, but I noticed you haven't posted your weekly report in the Phase 1 forum on the study site for the last eight weeks.  This question about 25-D increase should have been asked there, along with your progress report, so that the medical team can best help you.

You can't expect to get better if you don't keep in close touch with the experts, and besides, there are many others waiting for a place in the study if you don't keep to your commitment to report regularly. :?  Please let us know if there's some way we can help you.

Julia
