I have #39.  This one cuts out over head light which is probably more important for a fit over, but is a bit clunkier looking.  I took off the rubber spacer across the top as being over kill for me, but I am sure it might be necessary for those that have severe sensitivity.

I keep a pair of the $33 ones around as a back up, since I broke a pair and waited several weeks for the replacement.  It says Z87 on the cheap pair.

I ordered mino from the VA to have it on hand and they sent me 500 Tetracycline hcl - 250 meg caps!

I know I need to get the 50s instead but I'm wondering if the Tetra is the same as Mino.

Also, I have been on Benecar for 8 days and no response at all.  How long should I do the Benecar before I start the Minocycline if I continue to get no dieoff response?

Tetracycline is not the same as minocycline.
Minocycline is a tetracycline derivative, and is therefore referred to as a tetracycline antibiotic.

8 days on MP is too early to expect anything.  Is your 25D measurement in ng/mL? If so, then that could possibly prevent immunopathology until it falls to around 12 and below.

Here is the page on the KB:
http://mpkb.org/home/mp/minocycline#forms_of_minocycline

I don't think you can substitute, but I'm having trouble finding a page with that information.

Had RA symptoms for about 1 year. All pain and swelling gone since Nov. Also off Prednisone since then. Been on Benecar for 7 weeks now and suddenly wrists and knee are swelled and painful like before. Is this IP that is happening?? And should I go on a very low dose of Prednisone to protect my joints??

Thanks. Ric

hello slicric
try increasing the frequency of Benicar from every 6 hours to every 4 hours any time your symptoms get bad.
If we take any medicine that is not part of the protocol, it is quite likely to interfere with the protocol and slow the natural healing that we seek.

this month and next your D25 is likely to be dropping into the range where most healing occurs, so you may expect more symptoms also.

One of the functions of Benicar is to protect your organs.
Your joints, your brain, your internal organs... wherever the microbes are dying and releasing toxins.

Drink plenty of water to help get rid of toxins
We all experience that symptoms come and go and come again and go again over the  months and years of MP

are you taking any antibiotics along with the Benicar?

I always found abx to be palliative. If your not taking it yet, mino may help.

Off Prednisone for 4 months. Was doing good on Benecar for 7 weeks. No RA symptoms for 4 1/2 months. Suddenly wrists and knee swelled with pain. Is it ok to take 5 mg Prednisone temporarily or should I just ignore the pain.

Thanks.

Not to be a wise guy but you really need to do more reading!

Once on the MP you will never take Prednisone again!!

Are you taking Mino Yet? Sometimes it can palliate symptoms.

Thank you Madhouse.  That's what I thought.  I ordered Mino but it hasn't come yet so I'll put up with the pain until it gets here.  Ric

Do some reading on Mino, it is an approved DMARD.

Thanks much Madhouse. Read what you suggested.

Mino is an approved DMARD, when used in continuous high dose.  But I don't think it protect the joints when used that way, as high doses are immuno-suppressive.

I had the happy opportunity to talk to Carol this weekend, and she reports that her joint damaged happened while on a high dose antibiotic regime prior to the MP, and has had no further damage after starting the MP.

Carol's thread: http://www.marshallprotocol.com/view_topic.php?id=5671&forum_id=35&jump_to=202314#p202314

Neither prednisone nor continuous high-dose mino is going to protect anything.  They will reduce discomfort.  Mino at least doesn't have the weaning or really nasty side-effects of prednisone.  Using it in short bursts to get a bit of peace is reasonable, but not at continuous high levels.

Hey Cris,

I decided not to take any prednisone at all - and the RA type pain and inflam has subsided totally anyway - strange stuff!

Sooooo, I'm on benecar 40s for 2 months and one mino 50 every other day for 4 days. No IP at all yet but I'm determined to feel like crap soon!

Thank you Cris. Ric

Ric, please don't wish the IP to come.  It may not be just feeling bad.  It could be swelling in the joints.  IP can be almost anything, so keep an eye out for the unexpected, and don't try to rush things.  25 mg is the usual starting dose, so not sure if you started with 50 or 25mg, but please try to keep with the plan and don't improvise.

Cynthia

Thats the same response to abx I had. This is why I progressed to stage 3 so quickly, I immediately felt better on abx. Don't worry, if all goes as planned it is only temp. Symptoms will return and then some! I now do abx every 3 days to help provoke some IP. If you feel better the abx are probably just immunosuppressant. I know many people with chronic inflammatory problems who feel great when taking abx.

Having said that it makes sense then to not rush the abx like I did. Small doses that do not suppress immunity are probably better in the long run.

I especially find retuning of all your lifetime injuries the most fascinating IP!

Thanks Cynthia. Mostly joking about wishing for IP - just anxious to get results.

Someone suggested Mino 50s because I had been on Bennies for 2 months with no IP. But I'll do as you suggest and cut it to 25. Btw, is it ok to just put half of the Mino powder on a bite of food and eat it - or does it have to be in caps so it passes the gut incapsulated?

And I understand Mino comes in pills too which would be handy to split for the right amount - is that ok to do??

Thanks again Cynthia. Ric

Splitting pills or dividing a capsule - both worked for me.

The antibiotics do taste foul.  My wife would mix the powder with something like applesauce, while I'd just wash it down quickly with water.
