Hi Mel,
I actually felt much better and many symptoms improved for me once I began the Benicar. It is my opinion that lowering light and reducing D foods for nearly a month before I was able to acquire my rx for Benicar may have helped ease my body into the transition.
But you will not know how you react until you try it. Most of the initial reaction to Benicar is typically your body stabilizing at a new hormonal level and so I would think the best bet is not to take more Benicar but to be sure not to skip any dosing times and follow all MP instructions diligently.
As Julia says, the moderators will be glad to help you.
See I just started Benicar. Why do I feel worse? What should I do?

I recieved a letter from my ex doctor today. He stated that he would need psychiatric help prior to being able to look at my case again. He said that he feels that at my age it would be a shame to sign disability papers. He also said that if I find a doctor that does something to help me, he wants to know what it was.
I have an appointment tomorrow with an MP doctor and am ready for the time when I can go back to my ex doctor and show him what he doesn't know.
I'm ready to get my life back and am praying that this is the answer I have been looking for!

So, I had my appointment today. I really liked the doctor and he did the D tests...I should know next week what they were.
He gave me the prescription for the antibiotic, however, wants me to start the Benicar at 20 mg q day for a few weeks to make sure it doesn't cause serious BP issues.
So, I guess all I can do is try it a few days and see how I feel. Will I feel worse though taking only that small amount???
I'm just wondering what I should do...

Mel,
Please see Why shouldn't we ramp up the dose of Benicar? and Benicar - Basic information. Print them out for your doctor! Benicar does not lower BP any further after 40mg a day.

Well, today I went into the clinic to see a doctor about my persistant sore throat. I figured I might have strep and of course...I do. So, I will have to wait until I am done treating that until I start the protocol. Hopefully I will be able to convince my doctor to let me start the Benicar at the prescribed dosage in the mean time.
Thanks, Mel

Mel,
Persistent sore throat is a common Th1 symptom. Some members had it for years. It responds to the MP.
If you do go for using antibiotics for it first, make sure they're out of your system before you start Benicar. How long that will take, depends on which one you've been given.

No, I never have a sore throat...I knew this was a different infection all together...my strep test was positive.
I will be taking amoxicillin for 10 days.
Can I begin the MP immidiately after?
I'm also still in the process of ordering my glasses. I know this sounds stupid, but I really want ones I can still feel comfortable wearing around other people. I know everyone says its best to have the side protection, but is there another option that gives the protection and still looks like a normal pair of shades?

Hi Mel,
Look at this link the wrap arounds (NOIRs) have a sporty look to them. I think you will find these to be more stylish. However, you are going to get stares and comments made when you go out due to covering up head to toe especially in hot weather.. It is just better to laugh it off and smile/giggle. It is fun to see people reactions ...sometimes.
It is just part of the process...to bad they (the ones who stare and comment) dont know about the MP, is what I think, becuase I know they all know someone with chronic disease who would benefit from MP.
I hope this helps! Jeannine

Mel,
For amoxicillin, Meg says to be on the safe side you need to leave 48hrs between the last dose and starting benicar.

Thanks to everyone who has replied and helped with everything!

Ok, so as I am preparing in these last few days I have a few food questions.
I have found it hard to find any milk that is not fortified with Vit. D. I have looked and looked and even the dry stuff is fortified. The closest thing I can find is fat free half & half. It says it doesn't have any D, but if any one knows of how to find non-fortified milk I would love to know.
Also, I like Kashi foods and am wondering if they are something MP'ers eat? I know it's all natural that way and the taste is great too! Just wondering!
I'm also still lost on the Omega 3...I know if it's in capsules not to take it, but what about margarine type spreads that have it or walnuts that do too?
Thanks!

Don't use the low fat half&half, it's got "other" things in it like carageenan that you should avoid. Use regular half&half (but check for D - most are free of added D). You can dilute it by half with plain water to get an approximation of milk if you want.
Not sure about Kashi, but I'm natuarlly suspicious of ANYTHING that is commercially made. They like to hide things in there. Same goes for margarine - I use butter and have had no problems. Be sure you check for sunflower oil in products, there seems to be a lot more use of that now for some reason.
You'll soon have a list of items that you know are safe that you can use, but it takes a little while to get up to speed on the dietary requirements. For things like cheese, butter, and half&half, moderation is the key. Be sure to get generic egg whites, not Egg Beaters!
Hope you get your Noirs soon and can get started.

Mel,
Many of your questions about food have been talked about and answered in early posts.
May I suggest that you use the Search engine at the top of each page of the MP to locate the material about food things. There is a WEALTH of material that was posted earlier.
Alternatively, use MARSHALL PROTOCOL FAQs Easy Finder & the ABC of MP
Thanks!
Wishing you, and all, wellness!!!

Mel,
I like Kashi foods and am wondering if they are something MP'ers eat? I know it's all natural that way
Just because something is 'natural' doesn't necessarily mean it's good. I took a quick look at the Kashi website at their breakfast cereals - the first one I chose contained soy (not good) and annatto (a natural colouring known to cause allergic rashes in sensitive people) and the second had flax seed (vit D) and was 24% sugars.

| I'm just wondering if there is somewhere that I can find the list of the 40 some bacteria that have been found to be L-form...my illness started with a bacterial infection followed by a viral infection and I thought it would be interesting to see what L-forms they've found!

Ok, so I went to an allergy specialist prior to learning about the MP...today in the mail I recieved my food allergy tests and would like some help understanding what they found.
According to my results I showed a moderately positive reaction to milk by IgE antibody assay and moderately positive to Candida yeast by IgG antibody assay.
I was sent a food chemicals antigen dropper to use and was given perscriptions for culturelle (1x/day at a meal) and also Nystatin (3x/day for 1 month & then 3 days a week for 6 weeks).
I stopped the other allergy drops they gave me after I read about the MP. I'm just wondering if milk is a common allergy in people with CFS? I know yeast is usually a big problem, but why milk???
At one point during this long illness I was sick of my weight gain and I put myself on a diet...it involved low carbs and all natural things...I ate 4 times a day in small portions and walked for 20 minutes after 2 of the meals each day (to increase my metabolism following the meal). My condition improved so much I was able to function at a much higher level? I became very sick again following Christmas that year because I gave into the sweets like my body was screaming for me to do. So, any ideas as to why the diet worked to get rid of my symptoms? I still had hormome problems, and GI issues (constipation), but my neuropathy moved from full body to only in my feet and my hair and skin felt better along with my energy level, etc.. It was as if I was mocking my metabolism like the diet was designed and tricking my body into working at a better but not full level again.
So, I'm still waiting on my D labs...I'm just really adimit that I get this right this time.
Also, has anyone read about this??? http://www.cfs-recovery.org/docdarren2.html#symptoms It's called Candidiasis Syndrome...is this real???

Mel,
About food sensitivities Dr Marshall says,
All your food allergies disappear as you recover on the MP. It is important for you all to realize that the worrying about food you are doing is as a result of your Th1 disease. Therefore, it is not helpful to think about these things as food "allergies," you should think about them as "can't tolerate certain foods." These days I eat anything I want. I know that my body is not sensitive to any of the foods I used to shun. Once the bacteria had been cleared from my body and mind, the sensitivities to smell, foods, and touch had all gone.
(from the topic What should I do for my stomach and esophagus problem?)
Finding a list of symptoms in a patient who tests positive for yeast doesn't necessarily mean that the yeast is the cause of the other symptoms! See Candidiasis.
