The Australian Autoimmunity Foundation (AAF) is a registered, not-for-profit organisation established in October 2006, to promote research into immune-enabling strategies for the management and treatment of autoimmune diseases.

Our Mission includes:
Sponsoring and supporting research

Informing medical professionals

Advising government and community agencies

Collaboration with other health organisations

Prior to the formation of the Australian Foundation, MP patients had to import olmesartan from Germany ( cost $1.60 per tablet !!!), import one of the antibiotics from the UK, and import NoIRs from the manufacturer ( 3 month wait, if they did at all supply )  Oz MPers had no opportunity to easily meet others for support or local assistance with Aus Food advice. We have come a long way since then.

We have also sponsored two visits by Dr Marshall down to Australia.  He has given lectures and tutorials to doctors.  We introduced Dr Marshall to three of the top Australian medical research institutions, where he also presented lectures.

Our role is to support patients, and to foster research and clinical trials into the treatments developed by Dr Marshall.

We do not manage patient treatment nor provide medical advice nor guidance to patients.  We do sponsor and fund an annual workshop of Australian MP doctors, with 2010 workshop being held in Canberra, but we take no part in the medical dialogue.

With all of our activities we collobarate with Dr Marshall Autoimmunity Research, Inc.

Becoming a Member of the Australian Autoimmunity Foundation

What do membership fees support?

The Australian Autoimmunity Foundation (AAF) supports Australian patients who are on the Marshall Protocol. It provides information to Australian medical professionals who have patients on the Marshall Protocol.

It engages with Australian medical researchers working in the field of autoimmune diseases, and supports the registration of immune modulating drugs for the treatment of autoimmune and other inflammatory diseases.

Monies received by the Foundation must largely be spent in Australia on health promotion activities.

Thanks for taking the time to check out our organisation and our website at http://www.ausautoimmunity.org.au

I will be in Sydney for the training on Saturday 20th :)

Maybe we can also squeeze in a quick visit to Melbourne on Sunday 21, before I leave for my Murdoch-meetings in Perth?

ps: please 'spread the word' so that we can get a really good attendance at the Sydney physicians' event.

Hello, all AAF members.

Professor Trevor Marshall will be in Sydney on Saturday 20 June and will
be at the seminar/workshop for Medical Practitioners.  I have added a News
item to the AAF website about this.

Please read it and, if you would like your doctor to get a last minute
invitation to the seminar
, please email the AAF Secretary:

Change of Venue:

Dear AAF Member,

On 30 April this year I posted a News item about an MP Basics Tutorial for
Health Practitioners on the AAF website.  The venue for this tutorial has
been changed.

If you gave a health practitioner information about the tutorial, could
you please also let them know about the change of venue?  More information
and a map of the location can be downloaded from: outdated url

Peter de Jager
Webmaster

Thanks for taking the time to check out our organisation and our website at http://www.ausautoimmunity.org.au

Informal MP member meetings this week:
I will be stopping over in Melbourne (on my way to Perth) on Sunday the 21st. Natalie and Inge are trying to make email contact with everybody who wants to meet, so that we can let you all know when the venue is chosen, and car-pool, etc.

I am arriving into Sydney early on Friday 19th, and would love to meet with any Sydney MP members around dinner time at my (Mascot) Hotel on Friday night (assuming I can stay awake :)). If you are able to join a group of us this Friday night please send me a PM with your email address, so I can keep everybody coordinated as the days tick by... (if anybody is able to help coordinate, I would be very grateful :))

Hello all,

As you know, Dr. Marshall will be in Melbourne this Sunday the 21st of June.  Finally we have a venue confirmed.

Details are as follows;

When;
10.30am-5pm
Sunday the 21st of June

Where;
The Holiday Inn, Melbourne Airport
10-14 Centre Road Tullamarine VIC 3045
(03) 9933 5111
(Here is a link on Google Maps - HERE

The conference room will be named "Autoimmunity Research Foundation", so request to be taken to this room at the front desk.
The room will not be far from the front desk so there won't be too much walking involved.
The set up will be chairs around a table, but I've been assured there is a small common lounge outside if anyone needs to take a rest.

Parking is complimentary - just mention that you're there for the Autoimmunity Research Foundation meeting.

Please note; you do not need to be there for the entire length of time.  Dr. Marshall has made himself available for the whole day so you can come at the time of day that best suits you.

Water will be available.

Hope to see you there,
Natalie

I was talking with the pharmacist this morning and he said that Minocycline or Minomycin (Sigma brand) is really hard to get at the moment as Sigma which is undergoing some problems at the moment are not producing it.  I have had to ring around a few pharmacies to get the script filled with what stock the chemist had on their shelves.    He said they should be stocking it soon but do not have a date yet as they have been out of stock for at least a month or so. Just thought I would let you know in case you were running low.

Possible changes to range of NoIR glasses stocked by Compoundia

We have been reviewing the range of NoIR glasses stocked by Compoundia.  Several Queenslanders have long requested super dark glasses to cope with their blazing light levels during summer.

NoIRs are now being made with a 1% visible light transmission filter ,  though only with a grey green tint, rather than in the better contrasting amber tint.

Could anyone who would like to purchase these please let me know by PM - so that we can get the initial ordering levels right.    This lens would probably only be available in the Model 35 wraparounds , unless there is a clear demand for any of the fitover styles.

We are also considering adding to the range a wraparound which filters out less of the visible light than the 40% light ambers : there are two alternatives - a 58% light grey and a 90% clear.  Again if anyone would like either or both of these to be stocked could they let me know by PM

Thanks

Robert Townsend

Canberra MP'ers

At the Patient Forum last weekend Robert mentioned that he'd been asked about the possibility of another gathering in Canberra. As I enjoyed meeting others face-to-face who understand what it's like to be on MP, I thought I'd get the ball rolling.

Is anyone interested in a casual get together to chat and swap thoughts/information on a regular basis? I thought maybe once a month at, say, a cafe? I'm open to all suggestions, especially, about what days/times would be best for you.

So I can get a feel for where might be a fairly central location for us to meet could you please include you suburb. Could you also indicate whether you would be willing to assist/need assistance with transport .

I look forward to hearing from you ... Cheryl

That's a great idea Cheryl :)
Last year I stopped by  Melbourne and met some of the members there. Amy and I will both be traveling to Australia at least once a year, and if you can get a members group active in Canberra it will make it easier for us to drop by at short notice (everything we do these days is at short notice :X)

The same goes for groups in the other regions, it is important to network the local members :)

This ought to be posted in the main study site too, but I see you are not yet a member there. I will be opening up membership again for one day next week to allow CureMy folk who have started the MP to enroll themselves into the larger community. Keep an eye on the announcements here later in the week :)
